Dr. Ashley Keane
Ashley Keane is a doctoral level educational psychologist. She has specialized in applied behavior analysis and has her Certification and Massachusetts License in ABA. Dr. Keane has worked in the field of applied behavior analysis for over 15 years. While she thoroughly enjoys working in clinical settings or school environments, she has found her passion lies within the home, facilitating family dynamics of those with children and relatives on the autism spectrum.
Dr. Keane has spent many years focusing on researching social skills for the autism population. She has found that individuals on the autism spectrum have an interest in making relationships but have difficulty doing so due to the nature of the disability. Advocating on improving social skills programming within the school setting has been a major initiative for Dr. Keane’s work throughout the years. Ashley has helped develop numerous social skills groups both inside of school and out, focusing heavily on the interests of the children themselves. One group in particular, which became the primary focus of her doctoral dissertation, was a video gaming group. This group brought students on the spectrum, along with neurotypical individuals, together and allowed for bonding over a mutual interest. The group achieved success by building friendships and social skills within a relaxed setting.
Dr. Keane enjoys a hands-on approach to consultation. She finds a great deal of satisfaction and a true passion in sitting and working with each individual she encounters on the autism spectrum. She relies on her belief of truly working and understanding how her programs and targets will be applied with each case before passing these teachings on. Developing a strong understanding herself allows for her to then ask others to work on implementing her programs. Dr. Keane believes each individual has a real purpose and gift in this world. She is dedicated to sharing the idea that it is important that we each find this gift and pass it on.
Ashley is also a mother of two soccer, hockey and lacrosse playing young boys. She enjoys hiking with her family, finding new places to explore and enjoying the beauty of nature. Finding new music and discovering new farm to table restaurants with her husband are two of her favorite activities. Ashley is always on the go but with her down time she finds comfort on the beaches of Cape Cod and relaxing with a good movie.
